This role is with a young, vibrant scale-up who have secured Series A funding and are looking to expand greatly over the coming years. They specialise in the insurance sector and are in need of an additional Senior Technical Analyst/Actuarial Analyst with plenty of experience in the insurance space to focus on two products.

Practical quoting or Underwriting (UW) experience, so you can form an opinionated view on how to configure a system to support operational pricing, and have collaborative discussions with clients on how to best configure systems and be able to stand their ground when debating
approaches.
Knowledge and ability to generate good written specifications so that material generated can
stand up to contractual scrutiny and so specifications from internal staff can be challenged
and improved.
The ability to evaluate a client operational (usually offline) workflow process and translate this into a system process that will work for UWs.
Understanding what will block a project (internal or client side) and working with the PMs to unblock and manage delays
Experience of:
• BSc or MSc in analytical subject e.g. Mathematics, Sciences, Engineering is required
• Insurance – either in an underwriting, actuarial or business side is a must
• Prefer London Market experience either directly within Lloyd’s or one of the Managing Agents or Delegated Authorities
• Advanced knowledge of MS Excel including VBA and User Defined Functions is essential
• Insurance/actuarial pricing model techniques preferred
• Experience in Word and Powerpoint
• R or Python experience beneficial but not required
• Client requirement gathering exercises such as 1 to 1 meetings and workshops requiring excellent communication
• Experience creating specifications and using advanced specification techniques including various technical diagrams required for software builds
• Experience and knowledge of Behaviour-Driven Development (BDD) in Gherkin syntax beneficial
• Product development and the life cycle of a software product
• Ticket tracking software such as JIRA and Agile workflows
• Populating backlogs and building/planning sprints.
• Strong background and experience of : –
o Working in fast moving Agile environment and working as part of a cross-functional team
o Supporting new product development
Tasks involved:
• Requirements gathering using appropriate technique(s) including: –
o Facilitating requirements workshops with business stakeholders
▪ Provide diagrams and other visual aids to clearly communicate concepts
▪ Ask clarifying questions to ensure understanding and tease out implicit
requirements
▪ Document and communicate the outcomes of the workshop in specifications and
BDD documentation
o 1:1 Interviews
• Insurance pricing modelling:
o Converting existing, complex pricing models clients have created in Excel (VBA), Python and R into our proprietary solutions
o Creating models that can be used as templates in similar that can be used by less sophisticated clients that do not have them ready to go.
o Creating custom models/raters in similar from underwriter guidelines and rules.
o Orchestrating pricing workflows between a combination of the above.
