He always worked hard to streamline the recruitment process, making sure we hired the right candidate - not just having the right technology skills but the right social skills and personality to ensure a good fit with others in the team and the wider organisation and its culture. This was by challenging the job specification, advising on budgets/salaries and ultimately placing the best candidates to fit the brief. Even though my current role does not currently involve recruitment we have still stayed in touch with no expectation on either side.
